Building Leadership To End FGM in Kenya
A new pilot initiative by the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership (GIWL) at Kings College London and The Five Foundation started in mid 2023 for a changemaker programme for Kenya-based grassroots End FGM activists, who wish to build up their leadership, advocacy and influencing skills. The first candidate is Domtila Chesang, Founder of I-Rep Foundation.
GIWL works towards a world in which women of all backgrounds have fair and equal access to leadership. Chaired by Julia Gillard, the only woman to have served as Prime Minister of Australia, the institute brings together rigorous research, practice and advocacy to break down the barriers to women becoming leaders, while challenging ideas of what leadership looks like. The Five Foundation is the global partnership to end FGM. It works to break down systemic barriers to fueling and financing grassroots activism to end this devastating abuse of a girl’s human rights in Africa and beyond.
This new one year partnership programme incorporates evidence-based strategies to break down systemic barriers to gender inclusivity and accelerate progress to end FGM and other related forms of violence, while building inclusive leadership practices and capacity.
